My 2011 Craft Bazaar Schedule

I have been doing bazaars now for about 6 years, and I would have to say, this year was slow and comparable to my very first year in sales. I bumped up my schedule and added two additional bazaars, both of which are fairly new bazaars, and for the flow of people, I didn’t do too bad.

Songs of the Season II

Songs of the Season II as indicated in the title relates to Christmas songs.  Whenever I hear those familiar carols, pictures stream thru my mind.  Whether cherished childhood memories or traditional scenes, each song evokes special times.  With some songs it is hard to narrow down to just one theme.  With all the Christmas songs available, I could probably come up with a dozen books and still not cover half of them!  This book continues with some of my favorite songs and is filled with many holiday ideas.  Please feel free to use your own creativity to adapt or change any of the designs to fit on different surfaces, ornaments, tags or even gift bags.  You can even switch up the colors to match a specific decor.  It's so wonderful to be a decorative painter...we can do whatever we want and it's ok!!  Hopefully when you paint these designs, you will be filled with the magic of the songs.

Quick and Easy Painted Towels

I made these quick and easy kitchen towels using a stencil from the book Stencil Me In by Marthe Le Van and DecoArt SoSoft Paints.  My nephew and soon-to-be-niece are getting married this holiday season and I wanted to make something truly unique for them.  As I was looking at the wedding registry online, I saw a white and black bathroom mat, the bride picked out.  I instantly thought how elegant that would look on some kitchen towels.  Her kitchen colors were going to be red, black and white, and the stencil coordinated with her taste so well.  I picked up some cotton weave tea towels from my local craft store and used the white as the base of my stenciled design.  If you haven't stenciled on fabric before be aware that you will need more paint on your brush than you use on hard surfaces especially if you are using a light color on a dark towel like I did.  After removing the stencil I shaded in the red on the flower and some of the dot clusters.

You could also add stenciled details to napkins or placemats and have a complete elegant set
